Scoop & Bloom is a pick and mix sweet shop on the Lancashire coast. We weigh everything out by hand, to order, in 100g scoops — so what lands on your doormat tastes like it came out of a jar rather than off a shelf.
Why we started it
Because the pick and mix counter is one of the few genuinely good things about a British high street, and there are fewer of them every year. Half the sweets we grew up on — Black Jacks, foam bananas, white mice, bon bons by the quarter — are now hard to find unless you happen to live near a shop that still bothers.
So we buy them in bulk from the same wholesalers the high-street shops use, and we post them out. Nothing is pre-bagged weeks in advance. Your order is filled the day it goes out.
What we stock
Just over a hundred lines, chosen rather than dumped in. Roughly a third of it is proper retro: Swizzels in Derbyshire, Walker's Nonsuch in Staffordshire (same family since 1894), Taveners, Barratt, Hannah's. Sweets that have been made the same way for fifty years and do not need improving.
The rest is what people actually ask for now — properly sour things like Toxic Waste, freeze dried sweets, Dubai style chocolate, BUBS sour foam from Sweden, Hi-Chew from Japan.
And we keep real vegan, halal and gluten free sections, deep enough to fill a whole pouch from any one of them, because that is usually the first question we get asked and "a couple of things, probably" is not a good answer.
How it works
Pick a 500g pouch, a 1kg pouch or the nine-compartment sweet tray, then fill it scoop by scoop with whatever you like. There is no minimum on any single sweet — all ten scoops can be cola bottles if that is the kind of week you are having.
The 500g pouch is sized to go through a standard letterbox, so you do not have to be in.
What is coming
In 2027 we take on a shop at 69–71 Victoria Road West in Cleveleys. That is when the other half of the name starts earning its keep: ice cream, desserts, things in bowls. Until then we are an online sweet shop, run properly, by two people who weigh every order themselves.
